Life's Little Roller Coaster

This past month has been a mild roller coaster. Arriving in BC, and setting up my apartment with Chris was very exciting, and I was riding the momentum through my job application process. As the first weeks went on without offers, I was already starting to feel defeated, despite having kept busy with auditions and projects related to my performing career.

At one point, it seemed that I was on a very clear path to creating the life of my dreams. I had been offered (and accepted) a part-time job at a venue where I will be able to share my interests in hockey and music with the patrons! In addition, I was going to be teaching musical theatre to youth one day a week. I was very fortunate to be given this opportunity as I have little to no teaching experience. These two positions would allow me to continue to attend auditions, and participate in shows and projects in the performing arts industry. Due to reasons beyond my control (low enrollment), the classes were disappointingly cancelled. The feelings of defeat and frustration started to wash over me again. I have since been offered a short term contract (1 class over 3 weeks) to teach acting/musical theatre!

In the midst of all of the job applications and interviews, coupled with the awareness that my 30th birthday is fast approaching, I've been giving a lot of thought to the life I want to create for myself and the things I would like to accomplish. I have been learning a lot about myself, and what my basic needs are to be happy. Words that have been resonating with me throughout this time are confidence and pride. Confidence in myself, and in my journey. Pride in the people in my life, in the choices I have made and am making, and in the things I am doing to achieve my goals and dreams.

All of that was to say that, in my reflections, I have been revisiting my bucket list (revised edition below). I have carefully curated this list to reflect my hopes, dreams, and desires. I have tried, where possible, to be specific about when or how an item is accomplished.

What words help guide you through times of hardship? What are some of the items on your bucket list?

Until next time,
Tif xoxo
