Bittersweet Moments

As many people know, Chris and I are preparing to move from Toronto to Vancouver. We are fast approaching moving date (August 4th!), and there are many things to be done in preparation (which I won't be boring you with here). In the midst of moving preparations, I have been rehearsing for a choir concert, The Art of Rock, which took place this past weekend, and a dance show, MUSEment, which runs June 24-26. I am feeling very bittersweet about the conclusion of my performances and my time here in Toronto.

I am so grateful to have been a part of newchoir this past season. Taking the stage for The Art of Rock made a dream of mine a reality: performing with Sarah Slean! I remember how I became a fan of her and her music. I was channel surfing and had come across the music video for Sweet Ones on MuchMoreMusic (now M3). I stopped to listen and watch the video, and was immediately intrigued. Upon watching this video and hearing the song, I went and looked up more of Sarah Slean's music. At this time, itunes and YouTube didn't exist so I think her website would have been how I got to hear more of her music, and I would have needed to go to a music store (which was probably Music World) to buy her album. I have been a fan of hers since viewing the Sweet Ones music video.

Sarah Slean is one of the artists that I take inspiration for my own music. Her music is definitely one that influences how I write (or how I would like to write) my own songs. For years, I have desired to work with her, and perhaps, perform with her. It brought me so much excitement and joy to be able to share the stage with her. I feel very blessed to have been singing Sarah Slean's songs with newchoir along with Ms. Slean, herself. I loved every minute!

Now, I prepare for what will likely be my final performances in Toronto (at least for now) with Toronto Dance Project. As excited as I am to be performing in MUSEment, I am also feeling sadness (hence the bittersweet comment above). There are only a handful of rehearsals left before we hit the stage. I intend on living in the moment of each of the rehearsals, and of each performance. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work with such amazing choreographers, and to perform with a group of incredible dancers. This show is going to rock!

Until next time,
Tif xo

p.s. I'll see you in the audience! :)
